A steady state just means something is unchanging. It would be helpful to know what is unchanging in this particular context, is this a question about physics, chemistry, economics, something else?
Trivial just means obvious, boring. An example of a trivial steady state: when describing a particular chemical reaction, one of the necessary chemicals isn’t present in any significant quantities. It’s obvious that the reaction isn’t going to take place at all, so the system remains unchanged.
