I have been seeing a lot of people posting on my social media feed about these insects and I really don’t understand what the big deal is about them. What makes them so bad? What is their negative impact on the environment and on the planet? What is a potential solution for them? Where did they come from and how did they get here? What makes them invasive?

They’re an invasive insect from China. They eat sap from various plants and trees which can kill them (the plants). The main solution right now is just to try to kill as many of them as we can. The problem with them is that they have no natural predators in the new areas they’re being found in (hence invasive).
