what is an galvanic element

So, my partner is doing science at the moment and is stuck on galvanic elements, and how they work. Why theres a solution around (in this case) the copper and zinc anode and cathode.

Can anyone give a true explanation so i can help her out?

Thanks for your time

I think it is referring to any element that would be present in a galvanic cell. These would be the metals that can take place in redox reactions and have redox potentials. The most common are Zn and Cu, but there are many more that can act as cathodes and anode. Usually refers to metals (so the d-block metals and first 2 groups).

Googling “redox pontential chart” might help.
