I’m particularly curious about this because inflammation causes swelling. What exactly is inside that swelled area? Thanks in advance for enlightening me!

Mainly plasma and lymphatic fluid. When tissues become inflamed due to injury or infection, the cells in the region secrete molecules that make your capillaries dilate and become leaky. This causes plasma to enter the tissue at a faster rate than it normally does, which makes it swollen.
Blood mostly. The body responds to injury with localized vasodilation and (expansion of blood vessels) and increased vascular permeability in order to bring more resources for tissue repair and fighting foreign agents to the affected site.
