The 2d plane of a light wiggle.

So it’s like this with polarized lenses, only the light waves that are wriggling in the right direction can get through the lens. It doesn’t care how big the wriggles are, just that they are oriented the correct way.

Like a vending machine taking a dollar bill.

Okay, imagine you have a jump rope and you and your friend are holding the ends of the rope. You can make the rope move up and down or side to side by moving your arm in different ways. The direction in which the rope moves is kind of like light polarization.

Light is made up of tiny particles called photons that travel like waves, just like the jump rope. Polarization is the direction in which these light waves move. Sometimes the waves move up and down, and sometimes they move side to side, or even in other directions. Polarized light has all its waves moving in the same direction, like a neat and organized jump rope game!
