It’s increasing your strength by incrementally increasing your workload over time as you get stronger. The most common way to progressively overload is to increase the weight you’re lifting, but you can achieve it by lifting the same weight for more reps, or the same weight and reps with shorter rest between sets.

It’s starting off with a weight you can lift easily and doing x number of reps. After that you increase the weight and do x number of reps of the same movement. You keep doing that and increasing the weight until you are physically unable to complete that same by number of reps. The starting weight and the amount the weight increases depends on the individual.
