using Folding@Home rn, but I don’t quite understand how that works.

I remember that program.

I ran it on my ps3 for ages.

The idea is that it runs calculations on how the compounds they are trying to create can react and runs the same simulation 100s of times to rule out radicals etc.

Or so I was lead to believe.
