What is RAM speed? Is there a huge difference going from 2100mhz to 3600mhz?

Honestly it’s pretty straightforward. It’s the speed at which RAM operates, so yes, 3600MHz is significantly faster than 2100MHz. This can absolutely show up when, for example, playing video games, where a lot of memory operations happen.

With that said, _most_ RAM needs to be overclocked to work at the advertised speed, and if this is _not_ done it’ll run at the default speed (which will vary between RAM generations). Most modern RAM (i.e., DDR3+) can tell the BIOS how exactly to overclock it automatically… and that sometimes even works!!!
