Regenerative braking is the process in which electric cars use the momentum of the car to turn the electric motor and generate electricity to recharge the battery. In most cars it’s seamless, lightly pressing on the brake pedal will do this before the traditional brake pads engage. Some cars will do it as soon as you let off the accelerator. The most common condition where it doesn’t work as expected is when the battery is full so you’ll have to rely on your regular brakes.
