As title says why cant i just buy a big television and also use that as a monitor, what is the difference

That’s what I do. I have a 49″ 4K LG TV as my development monitor. It’s pretty much the same as 4×24″ 2K monitors, but without the bezel between them (and the massive engineering arm to get them lined up). It’s OK for gaming, but that’s not my priority.
