I’ve been trying to figure out the difference between the two in ADHD medications and no matter how many pages I read I still don’t know the difference.

My understanding of it is that methylphenidate acts as a bit like a dopamine re-uptake inhibiter, reducing the re-uptake of neurotransmitters (primarily dopamine) while amphetamines effectively dump your reserves of neurotransmitters. This is why amphetamines are considered stronger or more harmful, with easier tolerance building and the potential addiction. In practice it is much more complicated.
