Disassociation is an umbrella term for separating from your body and mind’s experiences. This can be derealization- which I’m told is like watching things happen to you, like a third person camera in a video game. There are other types as well, but I do not really understand the nuance.
Being bored and wandering in imagination isn’t disassociation, but being in shock & not able to speak or interact following a car crash or other trauma is.
