what is the Fermi paradox

The Fermi paradox is the fact that the data (or lack there of) on existing aliens life appears to contradict predictions of life and/or civilization using the Drake equation.
If our equations suggest that there is other life and that we should be hearing their radio broadcasts and what not… why haven’t we heard them yet?
