What is the Heptaméron and Decameron?

hello there, just a little background and context how i’ve come up with this question;

i only recently watched Call Me by Your Name (2017) and i am very much intrigued in Elio’s character and his family’s habits and attributes. I would love to know more about them and I want to be in their heads, i want to know how they think and view the world. Which, i presume, could do that by reading what they read. One of the book that they read is “The Tales Of The Heptaméron” by Queen Marguerite.

Now i know that i could just easily read the book Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman but i just don’t have the money to buy it. Luckily Apple Books have the book “The Tales Of The Heptaméron” by Queen Marguerite for free, so it’s the only accessible way for me pursue the Pearlmans (Elio’s family) brain.

I’m just 17 pages into the book but i cannot resume because simply, i’m too lost. I’m not anywhere from Europe, nor does my school teaches me anything about the history of the world. I’ve only done an amateur research about what an Heptaméron is but it only relates to Decameron (a writing by Giovanni Boccaccio in 1353). Researched into that but i’m only drowning myself with a whole paradigm that i am so unaware and unknowing of.

anyone willing to explain it to me?
