What is the “Old Math” that our parents and grandparents did, and what does it involve doing that’s different than the “New Math”?

They draw little cars and put the numbers in as passengers, lol. I had to help my nephew with it once, I don’t remember exactly how it worked but I was able to figure it out pretty quickly, it was elementary school arithmetic after all
