Blisters are your body trying to heal itself. When you get a cut or scrape, your tissue in the area start producing serum, a clear liquid that helps clean the area and aid in healing. When you get a blister, that fluid is stuck between the layers of the skin. Friction is a very common cause of this, because the surface your against is pulling the top layer in a different direction that the others, which can cause them to separate. That’s why if you’ve ever popped a blister, there’s a layer of fresh skin under it like when you get a scrape.
