So, I’m starting to nurture my interest in cars and was looking at the Toyota 86 and I see that torque dip is a big thing when speaking to the vehicles performance.
Can anyone kindly explain what it is and why reducing it is a good thing?

Well it refers to looking at the torque or hp curve when the vehicle is run a dyno. It is the trough in-between to separate peaks of the curve. If the car peaks at 250wtq, then DIPS to 230wtq and then goes back up to 240wtq….that’s the dip that is being referred to. Reducing the dip would also be referred to as “smoothing” out the curve across the rpms to keep the power consistent. The more power that is consistently put to the ground is overall more beneficial.
