What is triboluminescence?

Question

I saw a video of triboluminescence when two glass balls hit one another. I’m curious if the same phenomenon happens when cars crash etc?

You can see it with wintergreen Lifesavers. Go into your bathroom with all the lights off, then bite down/chew it with your mouth open. You’ll see little flashes of light.
