what is value criterion in speech and debate?

a value criterion is how you judge whether your value is being upheld. for example, if my value is morality, i am saying that i will, at the end of my argument, be moral. the problem with that is that morality is such a vague concept. to fix this we have a value criterion which defines how we will achieve morality. an example of something like that is utilitarianism, which basically means that we will be moral by looking out for what is best for the greatest number of people. basically, utilitarianism is how we will judge whether i have been upholding morality. does that make sense?
