What kind of ‘bots’ are captcha preventing?

Most captchas are on websites where you have to create an account for something. Are captchas preventing some kind of automation scripts that create multiple accounts on a website?

What are some other reasons that captchas exist?

Lifeprotip – captchas are also looking at your efficiency in completing tasks, hence the follow up choose each picture with traffic lights. On a mobile phone for example you can generally just click the box and the captcha doesn’t see how you got there (bot like) on a computer you have to drag your mouse (human like)

Next ti.e you get a captcha on your phone drag your finger to the box or use your finger to circle the box once or twice showing the system how you got there. You will bypass the picture verification 99%of the time with this method.

Might not answer the question but I do believe it to be worthwhile info everyone should know… unless you are using our responses to create your own bot 🤣
