Repeating the chorus. I have counted some songs and they will repeat the same line 24 times or more

Having a simple, familiar beat that repeats over and over again. The more you hear something, the more it gets stuck in your head; that way a chorus with a simple beat that can repeat multiple times in a short span is more likely to be glued in your ears than a long and complex passage. Its also good to note that catchyness doesnt equal quality. Bad songs can get stuck in your head too. Thats why popular songs strive for a catchy riff that’s as pleasant to the ears as possible (see anything by katy perry for example), that way it can be simple and repetitive but still good.

It has to do with intervals that are universally pleasing to the human ear and repetition. The song that gets stuck in my head most often is locked out of heaven by bruno mars. I fucking hate it because its such a common chord progression (vi- IV- ii- V) and is extremely catchy.
