There is no waterproof electronics, just a very good water proof casing that keeps the water away from the electronics. Or you can glue tue sensitive parts in with some resin etc.

If water touches circuit, circuit will fry. A waterproof device just means it’s designed to not let water in in the first place, same as a waterproof watch. Solid airtight casing with no gaps or cracks.

You keep the water away from the electronics.

This can be anything from a watertight outer casing to covering all electronic circuits with non-conductive coatings (like polymers, epoxies or ceramics).

Case with whatever necessary gaskets to mechnically seal certain junctions or seems

and/or

some type of epoxy/film/whatever type of chemically covering the electronics.

It’s not just the water alone that kills the electronics. But the power going through the electrics with water shorting some circuits. Most little components can’t handle much more power than they are rated for and the water can cause this.

A lot of what you have can actually go in water if there is 0 power in the device. As long as it is dried out completely before powering back on it will be fine.

The device is just sealed with glue or surrounded by a case sealed with glue or another water tight substance.

Basically waterproof stuff is just stuff surrounded by a something water can’t enter.
