What makes the brain remember some moments in life more than others?

I’m talking about very specific moments, for example I still have some really strong memories from when I was 10 (is 30+ now) and they are so strong that it almost feel like I’m there when I think about it. The thing is that they re not any special moments and could just be some regular day to day activity or play.

At the same time I had whole trips with the family, reunions, funerals, etc that feels like a lot bigger moments or milestones that I don’t remember at all.

So what makes the brain remember some moments more than other?

We don’t know. The way things are going, we probably can’t know. Even if we one day figure out the biochemical or electronic impulse stimuli associated with different memory “strength,” that will probably still not be very useful insight.
