What makes the brain remember some moments in life more than others?

I’m talking about very specific moments, for example I still have some really strong memories from when I was 10 (is 30+ now) and they are so strong that it almost feel like I’m there when I think about it. The thing is that they re not any special moments and could just be some regular day to day activity or play.

At the same time I had whole trips with the family, reunions, funerals, etc that feels like a lot bigger moments or milestones that I don’t remember at all.

So what makes the brain remember some moments more than other?

There might be something you don’t quite understand about yourself. That is to say, what seems highly insignificant might have some roundabout connection to something deeply important to you. We have to make a lot of decisions about the world when we’re little. How did you feel about it then? How do you feel about it now?
