Why is ecology important?

Ecology is basically the underlying science behind a lot of conservation. You can’t easily preserve a species or an ecosystem without understanding the interactions and mechanics of that community, or if it’s even possible to restore it in the first place.

Conservation is more then just ecology- there’s a huge amount of outreach, communication, and public policy making that also goes into it. But ecology basically gives conservation a scientific backing and allows us to statistically point out that it’s working and make sure it’s having the effect we want.
