What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using car width tires on the rear of a motorcycle?
In:
A car tire lasts longer and supports a heavier load, but is flat and does not lean (therefore turn) as well. This is something to consider with large cruiser bikes with cargo and a passenger going cross country, but not reasonable under any other circumstance. Care tires are flat and wide. Motorcycles maintain their balance and steer by making slight adjustments to the angle that the bike is at, so putting a car tire on a motorcycle would cause you to have a harder time rocking the bike back and forth and would also cause a sudden change of center of gravity when doing so because when leaning to one side suddenly the only point of contact with the road would be off-center from the bike on the edge of the car tire.
It would be unstable and unsafe to do so.

Car-width tires are in fact put on custom bikes, but they are specifically for motorcycles and are rounded for cornering ([pic of bike](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/B1sq5VsG0aE/maxresdefault.jpg)). If you have a chance to go to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, or any motorcycle rally, you’ll see all kinds of bikes. It’s pretty interesting.
