what’s a simulacrum in politics religion and phylosophy (sorry for possibly bad English )

A simulacrum is just an imitation of something. It originally referred to stuff like paintings and statues but now its generally an imitation that is defined by “missing” or “getting wrong” part of what makes up the real thing.

So for example, a cherry flavored hard candy is a simulacrum of a *real* cherry. It shares some properties of the real thing. Like it probably tastes kind of like a cherry and is…probably red. But it’s definitely not something anyone would confuse for the real thing.
