What’s the difference between a battery and a generator?

I know that the fundamental difference lies in the fact that electrical energy is obtained from conversion of chemical energy in a battery and mechanical energy in a generator, but what’s the difference in terms of output and the process?

a generator is either a dynamo or alternator, a device that spins and produces electricity, this works because moving magnetic fields can move electrons in a wire and therefore produce an electric current

a battery is a chemical reaction that drives electricity, chemical reactions are basically a transfer of electrons from one compound to another, in a battery we tricked the electrons into going through our circuit before completing the reaction, once the reaction is done your battery is empty
