What’s the difference between a heat dome and a heat wave?

More particularly, do they feel any different from each other? I read some things about them but it doesn’t tell me if one feel hotter than the other.

“Heat wave” is a generic term for when temperatures are unusually high for a time. There can be several reasons for this.

A “heat dome” is a specific meteorological phenomenon where several high pressure regions surround a mass of hot, usually moist, air and basically trap it in place, preventing cooler or drying air from replacing it.

Heat domes are one cause of heat waves, but not the only one.
