What’s the difference between a music player’s EQ and a dedicated app’s EQ?

I’m a complete novice when it comes to audiophile-adjacent topics. As I’ve looked into it more and more, I see the recommendation to use a given piece of hardware’s EQ app; I use Soundcore A1s for example, so I should download the Soundcore app and tweak the EQ settings for optimal results. However, I use the music player Musicolet, which has the option to adjust EQ settings as well. My question is if there’s a difference, and by extension if I need the Soundcore app at all if I make adjustments in Musicolet. Thank you in advance.

Most audiophile stuff is bs. From a pure standalone point: If you tweak the EQ of your hardware this will apply to every source. Everything from YouTube to Deezer and Netflix will get that EQ applied to it.
If you only tweak the EQ in your Musik player app you only tweak the EQ for every audio coming from that app.

If both EQs are implemented properly it shouldn’t make a difference when tuning a digital signal. Maybe the hardware EQ can take better advantage of the hardware but I doubt it.
