Depression is an umbrella term, there are different levels. Functional depression means the person is depressed but they’re able to function normally. They can follow a routine and live their life, they’re just depressed all the time.
Clinical depression is major depression, and that’s where a person is so miserable they can’t function. They can’t manage to work, feed themselves properly, or even get out of bed sometimes. It’s like a complete shut down of activity.
