I spent 12 years in the Navy in a very technical field. I attended many schools for technical training and was always in the top 2% of my class EXCEPT that one school where six students were Marine technicians. They took the top six spots in the class.
The difference between Navy and Marines? Discipline, Dedication and Determination.
Marines are a smaller more nimble and more trained fighting force all inclusive of land/sea/air for self sufficiency. First ones in. Shock troops you might call them.
Navy just transports Marines where they need to go.
Jk, battleships and carriers can lay down some serious firepower. Many times from the relative safety of a long ass way away. Carriers are extremely useful strategic weapons platforms.
You know those old pirate or age-of-sail movies, where you see like half the people from a ship jump across to another ship or to the land, and start fighting? Whereas the other half focus on steering the ship and shooting cannons at the target?
The former are the Marines, and the latter are the Navy.
Marines are not dumb. I was a NBC defense specialist. The thing about marines is we all train for warfare. I did training with mark 19, rifles, pistols, grenades, .50 cal, and 240 every year. Amd could use them all even though my mos was for nuclear biological and chemical warfare. And we’re literally given the mindset to be trained to kill.
