What’s the difference between Oligarchy and Sociocracy?

It all sounds the same to me, so what’s the difference?

Oligarchy is when a small group rules.

Think aristocratic rule in the early 19th century, or current communism where Putin’s party controls the government.

Sociocracy is where there are self sufficient but reliant systems governing on the basis of equality.

Corporations “can” function in this way. Where separate departments exist in small nested circles but conduct themselves to the benefit of the whole and to the benefit of each other, through consent. If there is even just one individual in a circle that opposes a given rule then the rule must be changed to accommodate. There is no majority in this system, it’s all groups of likeminded individuals and those with shared experiences, that all agree on their particular decisions.

TLDR; Oligarchy is when the the cool kids become class president and runs the school on things like no homework and chocky milk every day.
Sociocracy, is a bunch of sharing circles where each person is in a mentally safe environment, and consents to decisions for the greater good of summer camp.
