What’s the difference between shampoo and body wash?

Like why do 2 separate products exist
when their ingredients are usually quite similar

Shampoo is designed to cleanse hair and scalp without stripping away natural oils, while body wash is formulated to remove dirt and oil from the skin, often containing moisturizing ingredients. Using one in place of the other may lead to skin dryness or an oily scalp.

So it’s not a marketing gimmick. As a man with short hair, I’ve never noticed a difference in using conditioner or not though. I’ve done whole years using conditioner, and whole years not using it, and I’ve seen or felt zero difference.

Different ph levels

You certainly can use them interchangeably; and many 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 products exist; but you might dry out your skin or not remove hair oils when using the “other” product
