It’s about who can verify something is true.

Objective things are those things that can be verified by almost everyone. Usually this is things that are out there in the world and can be measured somehow. (E.g., length, weight, distance)

While things that are subjective can only be verified by an individual. Typically things that depend on preferences or perceptions.

There is also a third category “intersubjective”.

This are things that cannot be verified by measurement (like objective things) – but are also not dependent on the perceptions/opinions of an individual (like subjective things).

Some examples of intersubjective things include the relative exchange rates of currency, national borders, rules and laws.
