what’s the difference between the different varieties of toothpaste? For example, if I get extra whitening, am I not getting as much protection? Is there one type of toothpaste that’s best for all?

As long as your toothpaste contains sodium fluoride and does not contain triclosan you’re good.

I dip my toothbrush in baking soda of I want to, and I gargle with baking soda prior to floss/mouthwash for fresh breath.

Toothpaste that protects against sensitivity, while no substitute for a dentist, contains potassium nitrate which disarms or kills nerves somehow.

Be cautious about brushing your teeth immediately after eating, as certain foods (coffee is one I look out for) will weaken enamel temporarily.
