I used to remember when I got told off by the teacher at school or if I tripped over or dropped something and noticed everyone staring at me, my ears would heat-up/burn. I’m guessing it’s because I was embarrassed, but why does it affect just my ears with a weird warm sensation and what’s causing it?

When you are embarrassed your body may feel threatened and prepare to defend itself or run away. Since it expects to create heat it immediately begins sweating and losing as much heat as it can so you can run longer. By putting the blood in your ears closer to the skin your ears turn red and that heat begins to leave.
