What’s the school to prison pipeline?

A teenager goes to school.
The school is usually in a “bad” district that does not provide an adequate education.
This “bad” district probably doesn’t have much by way of employment opportunities for anyone, let alone newly graduated young people with a subpar education.
So you have students who graduate, but then can’t get a job, both because their education is poor and they are in an area where opportunities are slim. The next easiest alternative is usually crime, which most likely means they eventually end up in prison. So they go school > crime > prison.
There are various degrees of belief on how intentional this is.
