What’s the use of skeletal formulas in chemistry?

I only know the very basics of chemistry and I kinda know how to read skeletal formulas, but what is it really for?

It’s used for everything to be honest. It gives a simple to underatand shape of the molecule, from which you can deduce and predict reactions and chemical properties.

Thr chemical formula (eg. C13H16N2O2) tells nothing about the shape, and it would take a while to decrypt the IUPAC name into a tangible shape (eg. N-[2-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]acetamide).
