As said it disappears. Mind that what you see as dirt actually is different types of organic matter. Most do not contain sand. The organic matter is broken down more by bacteria, fungi and small microbes and insects and when they excrete it, it becomes plant food.
Being said. Over a very long time and in the right environment even sand and rock will be eaten. There are still fungi and bacteria that can break it down and ‘eat’ different elements.
It’s actually really interesting how plants need soil life to be able to eat themselves. Google/Youtube ‘the soil food web’ for some info. Some good animated videos out there too.
