If other air is gonna move in on my space. So the weather is more likely to.change if pressure is low

As a child I was taught **H**igh pressure = **H**appy weather (ie sunny), **L**ow pressure = **L**ousy weather (ie cloudy & rain).

It’s kind of simplistic, but it generally works.

High means clouds get pushed away, low means they are sucked to the area.

High temperatures near the ground and cold in the upper layers in the atmosphere means the hot air is pushed upwards

High pressure is usually hot and sunny. (H for Happy weather)

Low pressure is usually muggy, foggy, and stale. (L for lousy weather).

If the lines of the barometer are close together that means they’re changing quickly, that’s cause for windy weather.

When you have a difference in pressure the air tries to get from the High pressure to the Low pressure. Think of a balloon you have more stuff on the inside and it’s trying to escape that’s what gives the balloon it’s shape.

We know how the air(wind) travels from high to low and can therefore work out quite a bit about the weather like wind speed direction rough temperatures etc.
