Psychopathy is characterized by diagnostic features such as superficial charm, high intelligence, poor judgment and failure to learn from experience, pathological egocentricity and incapacity for love, lack of remorse or shame, impulsivity, grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, manipulative behaviour.. so I’m leaning right into no they do not care..

No. I was just watching “The Killer Speaks” on Hulu and the question of remorse inevitably comes up. They seem indifferent.

Nope, they don’t care. That’s why the ones who can kill do it, and the vast majority of people can’t. It’s a mix of lacking conscience/remorse, and also not having the capacity to care about consequences at the time. They might care once they’re caught, but only about how that affects their ability to do whatever they want. Nothing about their victims though, because psychopaths are narcissistic to the point that they don’t see other people as people in the holistic sense of the word (consciousness, autonomy, family, things they care about, etc.), they’re just tools. Most psychopaths are good at pretending to have all these feelings though, because they quickly learn they need to pretend to fit in.

It’s hard to truly understand what that would all feel like though because we have such a greater range of emotions and reactions than they do.
