Soil is a very broad term because there are different types of soil that come from different places.

But generally soil is either made from decomposed organisms, or rocks that were broken down by living organisms over many years.

Rocks and minerals crumbling apart into bits, plants and animals (and the animals’ pee and poop) decomposing. Bacteria and other microorganisms eating the decomposing stuff, and each other. Soil is generally some mixture of these things.
