Where Does Abdominal Gas Go After Surgery?

Eli5: I had laprascopic abdominal surgery yesterday and the surgeon explained that they inject gas to get a better view, then remove as much as possible after, but that some lingers and needs to dissipate on its own. My question is, where does this gas that’s free floating in my abdominal cavity GO? Does it get absorbed into my intestines somehow? My organs?

Any leftover gas gets absorbed by the peritoneum, which is a lining on the interior of your abdominal cavity. From there it is passed to your bloodstream where it can end up in your intestines and pass the natural way those gases pass, or even in your lungs and then get exhaled.
