Which is more accurate to how we actually look mirrors, or photographs and selfies?

Not only are mirrors typically much more accurate (less distortion, better resolution), but they provide a direct stereoscopic view. That is to say, a different image is reflected to each of your eyes, so you get the same perception of three-dimensional depth people get when they look at you normally.

On the other hand, photos allow you to much more readily view yourself from different *angles* – it’s difficult to closely examine the back of your own head with a mirror, for example. Most of us aren’t used to seeing ourselves from angles which don’t provide a clear line of sight to our own eyes.

Occasionally I like to take two photos of things, one slightly to the side of the other. I can then view them both together (eg using a cheap /r/GoogleCardboard type viewer) to get the 3D depth effect back.
