Which side in chess would win if both players played “perfectly”?

Isn’t chess a “finite” game where no luck is involved? Are computers able to calculate perfect strategies for both players?

And if yes, then which side is at the advantage?

Chess isn’t a ‘solved’ game so we don’t really know what playing perfect looks like.

A “solved” game is one where you can always predict the outcom if both players play perfectly.

An example is Connect Four. If both players use the optimal strategy, then whoever plays first will always win.

Chess is not a solved game, so we don’t really know what the perfect strategy is and don’t know how to predict the outcome every time. At best we can estimate probabilities.
