especially with dried blood! bleach can work too some times, but it’s not as efficient as hydrogen peroxide. i don’t want my clothes to have a faint outline of blood on them anymore

also, for context, i unfortunately have a uterus;

Blood stains aren’t too hard to remove if you know how. There are many methods. First, treat the stain as quickly as you can. Use cold water only. Usually I will put some liquid dish soap on it and scrub for a bit, then rinse. Then I’ll spray with Shout and let it sit for a bit, then throw it in the washer using cold water only. Inspect carefully before putting in the dryer, because if there’s any stain left, heat will set it and make it impossible to remove.

Another way to get rid of blood stains is to soak the item in cold salt water. Then wash in the machine with detergent and cold water.

Also, get yourself a few pairs of black undies to wear when you have your period. Black won’t show stains as much.

Because hemoglobin (that gives blood its color) contains iron. If you use the wrong cleaning methods, it will denature hemoglobin, releasing iron and iron oxides.

Particles of iron oxides are pretty colorful, and difficult to dislodge from textile fibers for example, which is exactly what a bad stain is.
