In general, we (Medical community) call them injuries. Thermal injuries, electrical injuries, acid/base injuries, etc.
Within thermal injuries, we separate it out even further my separating them out my mechanism of injury. Scald injuries, hydrocarbon burns, flame injuries, frostbite/frost nip.
The designation of first/second/third degree injury is also more of general population terminology. We prefer superficial, partial thickness, and full thickness terms. Each of these also can have a superficial/deep designation as well, and this is in relation to how deep the burn goes.
