Chinese manufacturers can definitely make great products, but a lot of improvements are also needed.
I work in experimental physics and we have equipments
from a Chinese company, which is also very popular among labs of my field.
From my experience, they can offer similar or better specs compared to their competitors at a cheap price.
The thing is, to make the cost lower they seems to cut corners from some aspect of the product. For example, the control software are buggy, their user manuals contradicts itself, and their equipment degrades faster than others over time. When it’s working, it’s great. However, their consistency and robustness is concerning.
Also, when we contact their technicians for a remote fix, they don’t seem to handle them with much care. For example, the equipment is operating at high current and temperature stabilized, as a precaution when you turn it off you should ramp down both at a certain rate. The technicians just put it to zero directly which is not good for the lifetime of the equipment. That being said they are helpful people.
I think they are keep improving on the consistency of their product, but it’s just not there yet. If they can managed to fix it tho, I can see them being the leader of the field as their performance when working are exceptional. They also involved in a lawsuit with another company based in the US regarding the design of one of their products.
