You ever notice how very few fat old people have much fat on their arms and legs, and it’s much more pronounced around their bellies? Even with women? Some even have downright skinny arms and legs but great big midsections.

When you get old, you tend to lose a great deal of the fat which was stored right under your skin.

When aging, you lose subcutaneous fat – the fat under the surface of the skin. According to my doctor, this is part of aging and nothing can be done about it. This is also why veins in the arms and legs are more pronounced. You also see distinct purple marks on arms and legs. These are bruises that you get more easily due to the loss of that layer of fat that helps protect the veins from damage.
